Jane Davidson began her vocal studies with Peggy Dwyer in Windsor, Ontario and piano studies with Mary Leah and Betty Knowles. Jane continued her studies at Wilfrid Laurier University where she studied performance with Dr. David Falk and graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Music. Jane also studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria with Dr. Sarah Arneson.

Davidson is two-time Ontario Music Festivals’ Association (OMFA) Provincial Festival winner, and has also won the Inmont of Canada Vocal Award and the Chatham Kiwanis Music Festival Rose Bowl. Jane has performed the role of the Countess in Le nozze di figaro, Mimi in La boheme, and Cupid in The Indian Queen, among other roles.

Jane enjoys performing 21st century music, and several pieces have been written expressly for her. An avid recitalist, Jane has performed recitals in Canada, the USA, and Europe, and has performed in concert with Canadian baritone Kevin McMillan. As a social justice advocate, Jane has organized recitals for the benefit of Hurricane Katrina victims as well as to fund safe water wells in St. John’s, South Africa.

Her voice students have performed as members of the companies of The Stratford Shakespeare Festival of Canada and Mirvish Productions. Some have worked in television and movies. Others have gone on to complete voice performance degrees at prominent college and university programs both in Ontario and abroad. Jane’s students perform in the pop music scene in North America, Vietnam, and Sweden.

Jane maintains a voice studio where she coaches singers of all ages in technique, interpretation, and expression with private lessons and masterclasses. She is the founder of the Believe Musical Theatre Company in Kitchener, and is a member of the Royal College of Examiners and an OMFA Adjudicator.

Her musical direction credits include over 15 major musicals including Les Miserables, Pirates of Penzance, Rent, and Tommy. She has provided vocal direction for many local benefit concerts. She continues to produce, direct, and perform, with the intent to promote the vocal arts.
